Daily Structure

Each day's lessons can be structured to make an easy transition into and out of the learning time. If it works better for your family, split up each section of learning time amidst the daily errands and playtimes. If you think that switching a couple sections would work better, feel free to do so. This is YOUR home and you need to work with the gifts and strengths you have been given, there is no one right way of teaching your child.

For our home, and I think for many other homes, a simple structure like the following will work best.

** Pray for Day:  this will be guided by your own family's faith, but a simple prayer I use with my son is,
Lord, I give to you today,
All I think or do or say,
All my work and all my play,
This I give to you today.

1)  Calendar and Weather:  post a calendar and some weather magnets or felt pieces somewhere in the house.  After praying, go to this area and update the calendar while going through some simple questions,
What day of the week is it?
What month is it?
What day of the month is it?
What year is it?
What is today's date?
What is the weather like outside?

2)  Sing Song or Recite Nursery Rhyme:  these will be provided with each day's lesson plan.  Feel free to use a cd or youtube recording of the songs, especially if you need a reminder of the lyrics.

3)  Activity One: a craft or activity based on the theme of the month/week.

4)  Activity Two: a craft or activity based on the theme of the month/week.

5)  Read Aloud: some book suggestions for different age ranges will be provided with each day's lesson plan.
